Start free. Upgrade when you're ready.

Try every GneissFox feature free for 14 days: all data capture forms, AGS export, daily records with signatures, and label printing. After that, choose a monthly or yearly plan to suit how often you're on site. One licence per user, with no hidden extras.

GneissFox Workflow

From site to office in four easy steps. Open the app, start a borehole, and capture data the way it actually happens on site.

1. Open the app

Create a project, add your borehole reference and select your drilling method. Ready in under a minute.

2. Input your findings

Log core runs, samples, tests and observations as you go. Works fully offline — no signal required.

3. Manage your daily record

Generate a Daily Record Sheet with logger and client signatures captured directly in the app.

4. Export and send away!

End the shift and follow the onscreen instructions to send your data and daily record straight from the app.

What does GneissFox capture?

Every record type. Built in.

GneissFox covers the full range of ground investigation record types across all common drilling and investigation methods. Select your discipline to see exactly what's available and why it's been designed that way.

Available Data Capture Forms:
  • Start / End of Day

  • Core Run (with sub-types: Core Run, Dynamic Sampling, Open Hole, Clean-Out)

  • Water Strike

  • SPT Testing

  • UT (Undisturbed) Testing

  • Dynamic Probe Test

  • Backfill

  • Installation (monitoring well/standpipe)

  • Inspection / Trial Pit

Rotary drilling generates a high volume of structured data at depth, core recovery, flush type, sample details and in-situ test results, all logged against precise depth intervals. Every record type in this section is designed to follow the natural sequence of a rotary shift, minimising time spent on admin and maximising accuracy at the point of capture.

Instant daily reports right from the field

Every shift generates a Daily Record Sheet, a comprehensive summary of the day's work that must be signed off before the team leaves the site. In GneissFox, this is built into the natural end of every shift rather than treated as a separate admin task.

  1. Daily Record with PDF export: Full shift summary generated automatically from captured records. Export as PDF and send from site.

  2. Client Instructions with dual signature: Client wants to change the scope, method or special requirements? Record and get signatures straight away on site to prove you were instructed to work a particular way.

  3. Capture signatures in-app: No chasing paper forms after the job. Sign-off captured digitally on the device before anyone leaves site.

  4. Bluetooth sample label printing: Print sample labels directly from the app via Bluetooth — no handwritten labels, no mismatched references in the office.

Label printing that doesn't break the bank

One critical part of ground investigation is sample collection. Most field staff in 2026 still handwrite labels on samples, which can lead to human error. The field team works tirelessly in all weather, and a slip of the pen can mean a mislabeled sample, causing issues later during testing and sample management.

You can set how many copies each sample needs, and reprint any label straight from the borehole log if one gets damaged or lost.

That's why GneissFox aims to support as many Bluetooth printers as possible, without the cost running into hundreds of pounds. Currently, we have one printer confirmed, with more to follow. Check the updates blog post via the button below.

Quick Log: see the borehole take shape

GneissFox draws a clean, landscape borehole or trial pit log at 1:50 from the records you've already entered. Strata descriptions, legend hatching, core runs, casing, samples, in-situ tests, water strikes and installation details all line up against depth. Nothing has to be re-entered. Each sheet covers seven metres and runs carry over neatly to the next page, so a deep hole reads like the log you'd expect from the office.

It's ideal when the client or engineer asks "where are we?" on site. Hand them the phone instead of a muddy notebook. They see exactly what's been drilled, sampled and tested, laid out the way they're used to reading it.

  • 1:50 scale, laid out like an A4 landscape sheet

  • Strata with legend patterns, plus backfill and installation columns

  • Core recovery (TCR, SCR, RQD), tests and water strikes at depth

  • Built automatically from your field records, with nothing to type twice

Your data, locked down

GneissFox HQ can't see your data and doesn't want to. Here's why and how we built it that way.

Everything stays on your device

Your borehole logs, samples, monitoring data and site records are stored locally on your tablet or phone.

You choose where backups go

The file goes where you send it. OneDrive, Google Drive, SharePoint, or your own company storage. We're not in the middle.

One User. One Device System

Your licence is locked to a single device at any time. No shared logins, no risk of someone else accessing your account from another tablet.

Authentication built in

Every login is protected with time-based verification. Your session, your device, your data.

Password-protected backups

Password-protected exports use AES-256 encryption — the same standard trusted by banks and government. Your site data stays secured from device to delivery.

App Lock

PIN plus fingerprint or face unlock, with lockouts after repeated wrong guesses.

Backup & Restore

Back up one project or all of them, and restore on a new phone in seconds

Photos that stay with the borehole

Take a photo in the app or pick one from your phone, then tag it before it gets lost. Choose a subject, add a caption and an optional depth. Every photo is linked to the borehole it belongs to.

Each photo is noted on the Daily Record and travels with your end-of-day data and backups. The core box at 12.50m arrives at the office with its borehole name, date and depth already attached.

  • Subjects include location overview, core box, sample, pit face, arisings, installation, reinstatement, services/hazards and plant

  • Optional caption and depth on every photo

  • Included in the end-of-shift send and in project backups

From App to AGS in One Tap

The data you capture in the field exports as a clean AGS4 file, ready to drop straight into your office systems without touching a spreadsheet.

1. Capture

Log your records on site using structured forms that match AGS field groups. Every field maps directly to the output.

2. Review

At the end of the shift, the End Shift Wizard walks you through a full review of the day's data before anything leaves the device.

3. Export

One tap generates an AGS4 file. No reformatting, no copy-pasting, no transcription errors.

4. Done

The file drops straight into any AGS-compatible system. Clean data, first time.
