Delete Your GneissFox Account

2 min read

This guide explains how to delete your account for GneissFox, the field data logging app for ground investigation, and what happens to your data when you do.

How to request deletion

Option 1: in the GneissFox app

  1. Open GneissFox and sign in.

  2. Open the menu and choose Account & Device.

  3. Tap Delete my account, type DELETE and enter the code from your authenticator app.

Option 2: on the website

  1. Sign in at gneissfox.co.uk.

  2. Go to Account Settings.

  3. Choose Delete my account and confirm.

Option 3: ask us

If you can't sign in, raise a ticket at gneissfox.co.uk/support from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it.

24-hour cancellation window

Your account is deleted 24 hours after you ask. We email you a link to cancel if you change your mind, and you can also cancel from Account & Device in the app or from Account Settings on the website during that time.

Paying for a monthly or annual subscription? Cancel it first under My Subscriptions on gneissfox.co.uk, then request deletion.

What is deleted

  • Your GneissFox website account: your name, email address, company and job title.

  • Your two-step sign-in settings and backup codes.

  • Your personal details on any licence you hold. If your employer bought the licence for you, it is unassigned from you and returned to them.

  • Your email address in our licence history, which is replaced with "deleted-user".

What is kept, and for how long

  • Order and invoice records for any purchases are kept for 6 years, as UK accounting and tax law requires.

  • A one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your email address and device identifiers, together with your company's email domain, is kept for as long as free trials are offered. It stops the free trial being claimed repeatedly and can't be turned back into your email address.

Your field data

Your borehole logs, records, photos and other field data are stored only on your device. They never pass through GneissFox servers, so we hold none of it. When you delete your account in the app you can also choose to erase the data on that device, or uninstall the app to remove it. Files you exported or backed up yourself stay wherever you sent them.
